There’s a countdown on the homepage right now, ticking down to August 8, 2026. A few people have asked what it’s actually counting down to — so here’s the honest answer.

It’s a real celebration, not just a marketing date

August 8 marks the point where My Pocket moves from “in review, quietly growing” to properly, publicly launched — and it felt wrong to let that pass without marking it somehow. It’s a small celebration, mostly symbolic, but genuinely meant as a thank-you to the early users who’ve been putting up with a brand-new app (and its inevitable rough edges) from the very beginning.

What’s planned around the date

Expect a proper announcement post here on the blog once the day arrives, alongside whatever’s shipped by then — the roadmap has Group Trip Costs and continued iPhone progress as the two big things I’m racing toward for that milestone. Nothing is being held back artificially just to hit the date; if a feature isn’t ready, it ships when it’s ready, not before.

Why put a countdown on the homepage at all

Partly excitement, honestly. Building something alone for months and then watching a date approach is a strange, quiet kind of anticipation, and a visible countdown is a small way of sharing that with anyone visiting the site — even if most people are just here to download the app, not to watch a clock.

You don’t need an invitation

There’s no guest list or sign-up required — if you’re using My Pocket, or you download it that week, you’re part of it. The best way to celebrate on the day is exactly what you’re already doing: using the app for the ordinary, unglamorous daily-life stuff it was built for.
